Message from the The Trustees

The BFUWI is the focal point for fund-raising for the UWI in the United Kingdom and is managed by a Board of Trustees whose key responsibilities are to direct the affairs of the BFUWI, ensure that it is solvent, well-run, and meets the needs for which it has been established . The BFUWI complies with charity law and with the requirements, reporting and otherwise, of the Charity Commission.   As Vice Chancellor of the UWI, I am proud to serve as one of the Trustees. On behalf of my fellow Trustees,  I wish to assure you that we are all committed to discharging our responsibilities with the utmost responsibility and diligence.

The UWI has had a longstanding tradition of excellence in education and in research directed at enhancing the social, economic, cultural,  and intellectual lives of West Indian people both at home and in places to which they have migrated . From our inception, we have had a close relationship with the people of the United Kingdom and the BFUWI expects to broaden and deepen that relationship. We believe  that a solid educational foundation for  our peoples will assure not just the countries of the Caribbean of a bright future, but also the rest of the world that we serve.

In giving to the BFUWI, one can make a difference not only to the Caribbean, but to the degree that a sustainable Caribbean becomes part of a sustainable globe, it will make a difference to the world we share.
