There are currently four Trustees of the Foundation – two in the United Kingdom and two in the Caribbean.
Professor E Nigel Harris – Vice-Chancellor
Professor E.Nigel Harris is the Vice Chancellor of The University of the West Indies. A Guyanese by birth, Professor Harris considers himself a Caribbean man and is proud to lead the Caribbean's regional institution. He has a wealth of experience both as an administrator, academician and researcher. He is internationally known for his work as a Rheumatologist. He helped to define a disorder (the Antiphospholipid Syndrome) and to devise a diagnostic test (the anticardiolipin test). His academic achievements and personal qualities have earned Professor Harris national leadership positions in organisations such as the Association of American Medical Colleges, the National Centre for Research Resources (NCCR) and the Association of Academic Health Centres. He has received many Honours and Awards, including the Centennial Award for Contributions to Medicine of the National Medical Association of America in 1995. He graduated magna cum laude from Howard University, with a degree in Chemistry and proceeded on a fellowship to Yale University, where he received a Master of Philosophy degree in Biochemistry. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, completing this within three years and again graduating with honours. He then completed his residency in internal medicine at The University of the West Indies at Mona and was awarded the post-graduate degree, Doctor of Medicine (DM).In 1996 Professor Harris was appointed Dean and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Morehouse School of Medicine where he proved to be an outstanding administrator, well liked by both faculty and students and particularly sensitive to student needs; qualities that contiue to be admired as he leads to four campuses of The University of the West Indies.

Vernon Barrett MBA
Vernon Barrett is an International Business Consultant who operates his own business consultancy - International Partnership Initiatives. His business fosters linkages between the UK, Europe, USA and the Caribbean with expertise in international trade, entrepreneurship, business development, project management and human resource development. Vernon has previously worked globally at senior levels in a variety of leading blue-chip companies, consultancy firms and development agencies such as Accenture, Commonwealth Secretariat, Business Link, Esso, Xansa and with Government Agencies both in the UK and the Caribbean. Vernon originates from Jamaica and attended UWI in Trinidad where he studied for an Honours degree in Chemical Engineering.
He holds an MBA from the London Business School.
Dr Michael Barrett
Dr Barrett is a Reader and Director of Programmes at Cambridge University at the Judge School of Business. Originally from Jamaica Dr Barrett has studied and worked in Canada, the UK and the Caribbean. He attended UWI during the period 1980-83 at the St Augustine Campus.
